DEATH THROES

A search for a glimmer of hope inside a system that grinds

DEATH THROES (2019) was a collaboration between me and two of the artists I respect most in the world - Julia Croft and Harriet Gillies.
Developed over a year, Harriet, Julia and I met in Melbourne and in Perth and created a work that was part Economics Lecture, part endurance sport, and all Experimental Performance.

The team was tiny but fantastic - this truly was one of the best things I have ever made. Oh My Gosh.
Performers/Devisers:
Joe Paradise Lui
Julia Croft
Harriet Gillies
Producer: Sam Nerida
Stage Manager: Chelsea Gibson
And me on Lighting and Sound Design duties!
REVIEWS
"we witness an expenditure of time and energy that goes in no particular direction, without reason or moral outcome – no heroic journey but a series of moments."
