SALOME δ

A dream-journey through sickness and health

Produced by Squid Vicious.

SALOME δ was initially the result of a year of development during COVID with Andrew Sutherland, Liv Hendry, and Grace Chow.  We then went into a season for The Blue Room Theatre Summer Nights 2022 with additional great guns Briannah Davis and Declan MacPhail, and we created a work of moving beauty, great violence, and stunning simplicity.

Taking Oscar Wilde's Salome as our starting point, we crafted a dance-theatre work about how to live through a future that was beheaded - one so violently different from the one we were promised, yet were in some way touched with our desire.

I am so proud of this work. I feel so incredibly lucky to be blessed continually with these amazing collaborators, that I want to forever hold close to me.

My collaborators:
Performers/Writers/Devisors: Andrew Sutherland, Liv Hendrey
Choreographer/Writer: Briannah Davis (moonlighting as a stage manager)
Costumes/Excellent Human: Declan MacPhail (also moonlighting as stage manager)
with Joe Paradise Lui as Director/Writer/Composer
REVIEWS
"The tone ranges from anger to camp, to wistful and broken with dexterity and aplomb. Olivia Hendry’s dance work creates such vivid tension, complimented by the brilliantly nuanced costume design of Declan MacPhail."

" It runs the gamut of messy, clear, knotted, lonely, connected, sick, and healthy all framed by dependence and a fierce sense of self. "

" There is such a diversity of voices and intimate perspectives presented that there will be certain things that strike a chord within some but not others."

I loved making the sound on this show so here are demos of the score
the show was divided into "veils" like, the 7 veils of Salome's biblical dance
and this score was very present through half of the work
Please let me know if you want to use any of these for whatever reason
